Miguel Chevalier is a pioneer of immersive digital art. An insatiable experimenter since 1978, his site-specific works presented worldwide explore contemporary themes such as ocean preservation. Informed by art history, his work addresses computer-induced logics such as hybridization, generativity, interactivity and AI. Using various digital tools such as robot drawings and 3D printing, the artist questions both the immateriality of art and the materialization of the virtual. Miguel Chevalier's singularity is highlighted in this new monograph, accompanied by an essay by art historian Laurence Bertrand Dorléac and an interview with Jérôme Sans, art critic and co-founder of the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.
“As an artist, I consider it our responsibility to contribute to a collective awareness. That's why my works, such as Extra Natural or Trans-Nature, illustrate the fragility of our ecosystem while expressing hope for a future more respectful of our planet.” - Miguel Chevalier
